Forum: feature_films Subject: So, is uploading 1960/1961 UK TV episodes too risky or not?

(I know it doesn't count, but some 1960 episodes of "The Adventures of Robin Hood" were issued by Mills Creek in the US).

I realise that whether these episodes are OK to upload or not is difficult to figure out....

Video-Cellar, would it be too risky to upload them, or should I go ahead? For 8 days now this has been on my mind, and I'm starting to go even more insane than usual.

Thanks for replying....

It wasn't "Robin Hood" I had in mind (already uploaded, some of them by me)...The British shows I was wondering about are: "The Larkins", "Emergency Ward 10", "The Arthur Haynes Show", "Citizen James", and "The Rag Trade". The episodes I have of them go as far back 1958 ("The Larkins") to 1961 ("The Rag Trade").

A second question I have is: If a TV series has some of the music slightly changed for DVD release, does that count as creating a new work? If so, then I'd have to be careful to make sure....

(it's times like this I wish I had made it past the 7th grade....my writing skills are horrible and confusing).

I don't think you have to worry about music either? as I have noticed on Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith, Petticoat Junction etc....they all have changed music and i'm sure they just uploaded them from a public domain dvd

Thanks foe the reply. I'll see if I get any more info (such as from Video-Cellar)....this whole copyright thing confuses me, it's like they (the law makers) are trying to make it difficult to understand on purpose.

Look, if nobody gives me a "no" then I'm gonna upload them.

Ugh, couldn't they create copyright laws that are easier to understand? I've been told "maybe" by Video-Cellar.

To tell the truth, every few hours for the last 10 days I've thought to myself "is it OK? is it not OK?" due to the lack of an actual "yes" or "no" response. I'd rather be told "no" than "maybe", 'cause now I have doubt without any form of certainty either way.....which, for a person with OCD and paranoia (I am sick of how often I mention my problems on here. I make too big a deal out of it), is quite a dangerous thing.

But since it doesn't seem like I'll get a "yes" or "no", I don't know what to do....so I'll take the chance and upload them.

But that will be a few days from now, so if anyone is gonna say "yes" or "no", you have plenty of chance.

(ugh, every time I read this point I get sick. I sound so self-obsessed, cynical and egotisical. Ugh. I'm the worst writer on this website.)

I'm taking medicine, but it doesn't work, plus has some side affects.

Fine, I'll upload them. Thanks for the reply.

"I'm taking medicine, but it doesn't work, plus has some side affects."

then you are taking the wrong meds, there are more then one kind and everyone is different and react differently but usually you find some kind of happy medium :)

nothing can cure ocd but you can make it more tolerable or manageable to function more comfortably.

And remember No one is NORMAL.
